The American band R5 visited Spain as part of the European leg of its Sometime Last Night Tour. The only two Spanish concerts took place in September in Madrid (Palacio de Vistalegre) and in Barcelona (Sala Razzmatazz).
R5 visited Spain in September 2015 to present “Sometime Last Night”, the band’s follow-up to its successful début “Louder” (2013) and the album the Los Angeles band are promoting during a tour covering half the world. At least one week before the two dates offered by the quintet in our country, Madrid’s Palacio Vistalegre and Barcelona’s Sala Razzmatazz were already reporting that tickets had been sold out.
The band’s first album “Louder” went straight to the top of the iTunes chart in more than 10 countries. In less than 2 years R5 have toured 21 countries and sold out more than 150 concerts. In Europe they have toured Spain, Portugal, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, Italy, France and the UK.
Ross Lynch (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), his siblings Riker (bass/vocals), Rocky (lead guitar/backing vocals) and Rydel (keyboards/vocals), together with Ellington “Ratliff” (drums/vocals) have gone back to their musical roots for “Sometime Last Night“, combining catchy hooks with highly textured arrangements. The result is a collection of great pop songs combining exquisite melodies, electrifying harmonies and lyrics born from the groups’ real experiences over the last few years. “We love groups like the Beach Boys and the Beatles, who wrote these incredibly intricate pop songs, and one of our missions is to make the music complex but still have a sort of simplicity to it,” says Ratliff.
R5 entered the studio with the goal of transferring the energy and vitality of the initial creative process onto the record, achieving a balance between sophisticated talent and pure pop instincts that is heavily related to their musical obsessions. “We were raised in a very musical household”, said Riker of the Lynch siblings. “Our parents were always playing stuff like Bruce Springsteen and INXS and Michael Jackson, and we’ve all been singing basically since we could talk”.
Ross Lynch is currently co-starring in the Disney Channel hit series Austin & Ally, playing the role of Austin Moon, a member of a musical duo. The series is in its fourth and final season. In 2014 Ross won for the third consecutive time Favourite TV Actor award at the Kids’ Choice Awards for his role in the series. Since August 2015, fans have been able to see him in the role of Brady, a surfer, in the Disney Channel film Teen Beach 2, the sequel to the 2013 hit Teen Beach Movie.
