TUTANKHAMÓN: LA TUMBA Y SUS TESOROS is a spectacular reconstruction of the tomb of Tutankhamun and the treasures found therein, as discovered by Howard Carter in November 1922. The reproduction of the funerary treasure in its original archaeological context provides a unique vision of the discovery of the tomb of the Pharaoh in the Valley of the Kings 97 years ago.

According to his records, on November 26, 1922, British archaeologist Howard Carter exclaimed: “I see wonderful things!” When he pushed a candle through a hole in the antechamber of the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, who died more than 3,000 years ago. After five years of meticulous and initially unsuccessful work in the Valley of the Kings, and shortly before the abandonment of the excavation, the British archaeologist made an unparalleled discovery until today: a pharaonic tomb virtually intact with all its treasures.

Throughout more than 2,000 square meters of exhibition, visitors will know all the details about the history of Tutankhamen and the excavation work in the Valley of the Kings. In addition, they will discover the three burial chambers of the pharaoh as they were found in 1922 and be amazed at the more than 1,000 pieces that make up the sarcophagus treasure, including the Golden Mask, one of the most precious jewels from Antiquity to the present day.

When seeing these jewels for the first time before their eyes, the visitors will travel in time until the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamen. A didactic experience, true to reality and that has an enormous scientific rigor. The exciting story of the most famous pharaoh of all time, now closer than ever in Espacio 5.1 in Ifema.

Six and a half million visitors have already seen the exhibition to date in cities ranging from Zurich to Munich, passing through Budapest, Dublin, Brussels, Paris and Seoul. On its first visit to Spain, the exhibition was received with great success by more than 450 thousand spectators. Two years after the discovery that went around the world, Howard Carter first traveled to Madrid, invited by the then Duke of Alba. In the conferences he gave during his stay, he left us his legacy, which today returns to Spain through this impressive exhibition with replica jewelry, chests, amulets or boxes.
